Slate re-roofs
Slate suits the stone-built houses of the Pennine valleys, and a well laid slate roof is a handsome thing. When slates keep slipping, the nails have rusted through or the battens have gone soft, it is usually time to strip the roof and lay it again.
A slate re-roof means taking the old covering off back to the rafters and building it up again properly, with slates laid and fixed in even courses and the ridges, hips and valleys finished to match.
A slate re-roof can include
- Stripping the old slates, battens and felt
- New underlay and battens
- Slates laid and fixed in courses
- Ridges, hips, valleys and flashings renewed
